For our early release of Pre-Spring 2025, we have partnered with London-based multidisciplinary artist John Booth known for his exuberant creative expression, Booth draws inspiration from Brazilian sun, sea and scenery to capture the vibrant spirit of Rio de Janeiro through his own colourful lens.
Aglow with positivity, the collection encapsulates the lighthearted joy of life through colour. Anchored by summer sets in uniquely vibrant combinations, the collaboration plays with unexpected hues and print application. In ready-to-wear, we introduce a Frescobol Carioca first: our inimitable fine linen is adorned with a bold scenic stamp to create a matching set in two distinct colourways. In swimwear, our bestselling sport fit receives an energetic update as Booth contemplates a kaleidoscopic reinterpretation of our Copacabana wave, crafted from the brand’s signature recycled fabrication.
Designed to pair with swimwear, or your city weekend wardrobe, our transitional cotton Rosa t-shirt is embellished with a sunset over Sugarloaf mountain - an ode to hazy Carioca summers. In accessories,100% silk scarves are emblazoned with the themes of the collection at full-bleed for a glorious pop of colour. A cotton tote bag and our eponymous frescobol bats feature spirited blooms in reference to Brazil’s vast natural beauty.
“It was so nice to make a return to designing textile prints for this project with Frescobol Carioca as that has always been something I’ve loved coming back to over the years” says Booth. “The prints for the collection are a direct translation of my drawings on paper, which are based on capturing brightness and joy”.
This collaboration marks our inaugural Artist in Residence: a tribute to our artisanal heritage. Tracing back to 1930s Brazil, Lian Pontes - an entrepreneur and artisan specialising in the art of woodwork - handcrafted the original beach bat from driftwood to found the game of frescobol on Copacabana Beach. His legacy of craft and design remains at the heart of the brand today, inspiring on-going collaborations with global brands and independent artists.
Frescobol Carioca x John Booth launches on Thursday 1st August. The collection will be showcased at The Rosewood, London from Thursday 25th July alongside an Art Afternoon Tea, offering a co-created cake collection by John Booth and The Rosewood’s Executive Pastry Chef, Mark Perkins.
