The Spirit of Rio
Transport yourself to Rio. Caipirinha in hand, bossa nova rhythms move you. The bustling city is always alive, yet the tranquillity of the sea is never too far away.
FRESCOBOL: Brazilian beach bat game
[FRESKO-BƆW]
Frescobol is a bat and ball game involving two players, created in 1945 by Lian Pontes de Carvalho to discover new ways of enjoying the beach. He stripped back a tennis ball and forged wooden bats and took them to the beaches of Posto 5, where the game was born.

CARIOCA: Native of Rio De Janeiro
[KAˈRJƆKA]
The name given to the city’s inhabitants, ‘Carioca' has become a means of describing the Brazilian way of life - a playful spirit in which our principles are deeply rooted.

A Point In Time
Jump forward a few decades and our founders Harry and Max play a game of Frescobol on the beaches of France’s west coast. Passers-by are intrigued by the beautiful beach bats and game; stopping, staring and asking questions. At this very moment, it became clear that they’d introduced an aspect of Rio’s culture to another part of the world, and this is when the concept for FRESCOBOL CARIOCA was born.
Our Story Continues
Since our launch in 2013, FRESCOBOL CARIOCA has continued to expand, grow and diversify. First introducing three swimwear silhouettes alongside prints inspired by the mosaic boardwalks of Rio's famed beaches, we then branched out into full resortwear collections and are now integrating loungewear pieces, with the promise of delivering quality products remaining at our very core.
