Get to know our proprietary house blend of one of our most popular fabrications: terry cotton. Our head of Design, Danny Ching, shares the inspiration behind bringing the one-of-a-kind cotton-blend to FRESCOBOL CARIOCA, as well as breaking down the fabric’s unique properties.
What was your inspiration behind introducing terry towelling to our range?Terry towelling is a fundamental part of any resortwear wardrobe, and pretty much solely associated with holiday apparel -I wanted to bring something different and elevate the idea of what terry cotton can be associated with.
Terry towelling is commonly made using cotton, sometimes blended with polyester. I've personally owned a few of these polo's in the past and never felt like they were premium pieces.
My goal was to offer something different in this category, to create a Terry piece that would be considered super premium and so I spent a lot of time developing a unique blend that I felt had these qualities. With the addition of the jacquard terry, I feel like we’ve achieved a uniquely luxurious version of terry.
What constitutes a good quality terry fabric and what makes the FRESCOBOL CARIOCA terry towelling unique?
Like any fabric, the quality of fiber is what constitutes good quality material.
The FRESCOBOL CARIOCA terry blend was exclusively developed with the unique usage of lyocell, cotton and linen. This allows for absorbent fabric that remains lightweight on the wearer, without compromising on style. To me, that’s the perfect terry cotton!
How would you recommend FRESCOBOL CARIOCA customers wear their Terry cloth pieces?
The unique usage of lyocell, cotton and linen in our house terry blend really transforms the way in which the pieces can be worn. While one can’t go wrong with sporting our full terry towelling set pool-side, I’d also recommend them for anyone always on the move; since the fabric is so soft, it is extremely comfortable to wear on flights, (or on days where the priority is to not do anything at all). The sets also layer quite nicely with our Prado Knit Vest. Separately, I think the Augusto shorts look great with a Lucio T-Shirt and the Roberto or Faustino shirts pair well with any linen bottoms or swim shorts.
