Handling
Pick up and handle your Panama by the brim, not by the crown. This will guarantee that the indents of the crown and the shape of the brim remain intact. Use an open palm to cup the crown if necessary.
Maintenance and Cleaning
For regular cleaning, use a soft, dry cloth to gently wipe away dust. Should your Panama get wet or become stained, switch to a slightly damp cloth and spot clean the affected area. This method also works for upkeeping of the internal sweatband. Avoid submerging the hat, and allow it to air dry in a shaded, ventilated environment.
Should your Panama become misshapen, envelope the hat in steam from boiling water and gently re-mould back into shape by hand. To re-flatten the brim use an iron on low heat, protecting the straw with a cloth barrier to avoid burns.
Storage and Travel
The most effective way to store and transport your Panama Hat is in a hat box, ensuring it is dry and avoiding extreme temperatures or humidities.
